Hi, I’m Simon, the proud owner of Speedy Spanners. After many years working in main dealerships, I saw enough and did enough to know I could go one better. Speedy Spanners was born, and we are now in our 12th year of trading. My passion for being hands on with the cars is still as strong as when I was a young apprentice but thankfully, I have a lot more experience now! Throughout my career, I have met some great people and still see today some of my loyal customers from 27 years ago. For those precious hours away from work, I enjoy spending some quality time with Laura and the boys and football is prevalent. If I’m not watching my 3 boys play, we are often found at Fratton Park hoping desperately for the win!

Hi, I’m Craig, after 20 years in the body repair side of cars, I decided to see how the mechanical half live! It will probably be myself you speak to if you give us a call as I arrange most of the bookings, quotes and handing over of the cars. Always happy to have a laugh (when appropriate obviously) and always here to help. Outside of work, I am kept busy with my 5-year-old Cockapoo and planning our next holiday!

Hi, I’m Laura, the proud wife and business partner of Simon! You may be lucky enough to speak to me on occasions if you call into the Speedy Spanners Office, but generally I tend to work in the background organising the men and keeping an eye on the paperwork. Alongside looking after the Speedy Spanners team, I’m busy running around after our 3 teenage boys and our Cocker Spaniels, Coco and Ruben. I joined Speedy Spanners having previously worked as a Deputy Nursery Manager of a children’s nursery, so managing the team often brings out my playful and humorous side which lends itself well in our garage environment! Simon and I met 30 years ago and have been together ever since. We have always lived in the area and are proud to own a local business serving our community and seeing familiar faces.

Hi, I’m Max the youngest member of the Speedy Spanners team and eldest son of Simon and Laura. You can see me emptying the bins, sweeping the floors, helping the mechanics with jobs like brakes and tyres and doing the important job of making the tea to keep the mechanics going! I am currently at college, studying Aeronautical engineering and have a keen interest in sports, especially football. I’m not sure where my future will take me but I’m learning some valuable life lessons working alongside my Parents and the Speedy Spanners team.

Hi, I’m Mike. I joined Speedy Spanners in 2025. I completed my NVQ level 3 in mechanics in 2008. I have always had a particular love for motorbikes, cars and anything with an engine. I have owned and worked on many bikes. I even met my wife on a motorbike ride from Portsdown Hill!

At home, I have 2 small children who I love travelling the world with and they take up most of my free time along with a game of Golf when I can.

I’ve had a period of time away from Mechanics but I can’t wait to get my hands dirty again!
